Old West Newfoundland Club Rescue

Why fosters are important

Fosters give our rescue dogs a safe, loving, and structured home. We rely on our fosters to help our surrendered Newfs heal and get ready for their forever homes. Fostering is a big commitment, but it’s worth it to see a Newf happy and healthy as it goes to its perfectly matched forever home

Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact your personal references and veterinarian. After a review of your references, a team member will contact you  to schedule a home visit by one of our Foster team members. The purpose of the home visit is to get to know you and your home better so we can make the best possible decision about who to place with you. It’s important for the dog to feel safe and secure, and it’s important that you are comfortable having a new dog in your home.

3.

Once you’re approved and sign our Foster Agreement, we’ll reach out to you whenever there’s a fostering need. Remember, the decision to accept an animal is entirely yours, and you can always say no if you’re not ready.

4.

Fostering is one of most important life-saving things anyone can do to help with animal rescue. ANY assistance with fostering GREATLY helps OWNCRescue meet its mission of rescuing Newfoundland dogs. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to  email us.
