OWNCRescue dogs are located throughout Texas. Yes, we do adopt out of state. If approved, adoptors are responsible for transportation. Most of our wonderful out-of-state families will drive down or fly in and rent a car to go home. We do not allow transportation companies or flying them commercially.

----------------------------------- The Adoption Process -----------------------------------

1. The Application

You’re ready to complete an adoption application. It is our duty to make sure that every Newf is adopted into a safe, loving home, and is given every chance for a long happy life. Once your application is received an OWNCRescue member will contact you.

3. The Home Visit

Finally, we will do a home visit. This final step is for the dog's benefit and yours. It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions about feeding, introducing your new dog to your home, vaccination schedules, or anything else you’d like to know before bringing your new best friend home to live with you.

Once all of this is completed, you sign our adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and arrangments will be made to pick up your new family member.

2. The Review

We feel strongly that adopting a dog like a Newfounldland, should be a “thought-filled” decision. When you apply to adopt through us, we have a vetting process. All refferences will be chaecked and if you have a pet we will contact your vet to verify that your pet is up to date on vaccines, on heartworm and flea protection, is spayed or neutered, and has received regular vet care. If you rent your home, we will also do a landlord check to verify that they accept pets and check for weight limits or breed restrictions. (If you own a home that is in a Homeowners Association, you should check for similar restrictions prior to applying to adopt.)

This process can happen quickly or take some time. We’re committed to placing our Newfs in the best homes for their specific needs, so please don’t expect first come first served. The adoption fee is $750.00 but there are instances when the fee may be adjusted up or down.
