This is the foundation of Companion events, which aim to highlight the strong companionship between you and your dog. Scent Work/Nose Work
Scent Work: It’s an exciting sport where humans team up with amazing detection dogs, like drug dogs, to sniff out various scents and substances.
In AKC Scent Work, dogs need to find cotton swabs hidden in a designated search area. These cotton swabs are infused with the delightful scents of Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress. The dog’s success depends on how well they work together. Once they catch a whiff of something, they must bark and alert their handler immediately. Then, the handler reports the discovery to the judge. It’s truly a team effort!
